TEA PARTY - the foundation of the USA

Not just a tea party, THE Tea Party:

Boston, 1773.

Tea has been running through the blood of America since our birth.  And not just our blood, but our salty waters.

As an act of protest against tyrannical rule, 342 chests of tea steeped in the Boston Harbor in December 16, 1773.  That's over 92,000 POUNDS of tea valued at today's money at ... take a second to guess

Samuel Adams and the 60 Sons of Liberty decided that patriotism didn't mean accepting the status quo and the laws of the land.  Rather, they believed patriotism meant fighting against injustice, which then catalyzed the Declaration of Independence 2 1/2 years later on July 4th.

The Boston Tea Party was a powerful demonstration against inequality.  It taught us that the truest form of patriotism isn't about submission but standing for the liberty and justice for all humans.

Today, let's enjoy our families, our BBQ'd food, and our fireworks.  And let's sip some iced tea together, full of gratitude and inspiration of the 46 tons of tea sacrificed in the harbor on behalf of freedom almost two and a half centuries ago.
